Project preparation for the US Trade and Development Agency for a CNS/ATM technical assistance in Panama to support air traffic management modernization, assess the installation of advanced communications, navigation, and surveillance systems and improve air safety within the country’s airspace and at major airports throughout Panama. The project included guidance to Panamanian delegation visiting key stakeholders in the United States.
KED prepared an airport development plan (master plan) for the Economic Development Secretariat of Minas Gerais in Brazil. The plan aimed at recommending capacity improvements for Pampulha airport, focusing on the expansion of general and business aviation services. A market assessment was conducted and eight different development alternatives were prepared as part of the study.
Provided provide technical and financial review services for the Department of Aviation (DAP) of Rio Grade do Sul in Brazil. Assisted in the financing of the PROAR program, successfully ensuring a $650,000 USTDA grant for an airport development program that would foster infrastructure development in remote and rural areas of the country for over 30 regional airports.
KED assisted the U.S. Trade and Development Agency to develop a program for rehabilitation of 22 GE U20C locomotives to be placed back into service. This project is expected to provide U.S. firms with opportunities of export of specilized parts and services valued at $30 million exclusive of maintenance contracts and support.
KED has assisted, since its inception in 2007, the US-India Aviation Cooperation Program through the US Trade and Development Agency, acting as technical contractor for the evaluation, prioritization and development of projects for the program. KED was selected four times by USTDA for this role between 2007 and 2017 and has worked directly with several ACP members, including Boeing, Landrum and Brown and Hi-Tech Systems.
Working with Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares de Mexico, the KED Team conducted a technical and financial assessment of five airports in the Central Region and provided recommendations for a focused marketing effort.
KED Group funding of a technical assistance for a 5 MW pilot photovoltaic (PV) plant in Essaouira. The primary objective of this project is to demonstrate small-scale application of PV technologies for towns and villages throughout Morocco and provide a baseline for evaluating solar PV for implementation of similar size and scope projects throughout the country. It is anticipated that this project would be a highly replicable activity and that similar projects will be implemented in the near future based on this experience and any “lessons learned” obtained during implementation.
Conducted due diligence to assess the operations of the airline and respond to increased demand at the Casablanca Hub considering the airline’s near and medium term program for expansion of medium and long haul routes in Africa and the U.S. The project is aimed at increasing productivity and safety standards, as well as implementing international standards for the airline’s operations.
Assessed a funding request for a safety assessment of airfield operations at SDU in order to implement technical solutions that would allow increasing the number of airside operations, while maintaining adequate standards of safety for airport users. In parallel to an increased number of aircraft arrivals and departures, the technical assistance included an analysis of the need to expand the passenger terminal complex to accommodate higher volumes of passenger activity.
Working with Belgrano Cargas y Logística, S.A., (BCYL) of Argentina conducted due diligence program for railway track maintenance in response to the BCYL’s current and planned infrastructure. The program was aimed at optimizing the use of the network, including increases of locomotive speed and safety.
